Aurora Wing By Dragoon Falcon Aurora Wing By Dragoon Falcon
Review By Vince401
This gem is one of the few and possibly only game to feature a fully functioning Tactical Combat system. I'd always wanted to do one of these from when I first started rm2k but found the AI too hard. So naturally this game amazed me.

AURORAWING2.gif (39035 bytes)

Graphics: Bravo, Bravo. Not the greatest treat for your eyes out there. The characters in battle were ugly. REALLY ugly. I just couldn't like their looks. It was nice though because they were all custom which was really great. I couldn't get into the style but you could tell a lot of work went into making them.

Graphics Final Score: 15/20

Playability: The battle system for Aurora Wing obviously took a lot of work to create. And it is WELL made. The CMS that accompanies it is a little slow, like most of the CMS's I've used. It's fun to play but once you get to the thirdAURORAWING1.gif (31394 bytes) or fourth battle. The game just get's flat out annoying, dealing with enemies get's difficult and there's nothing as annoying to get halfway through a 30 minute battle only to die and have to start over. The game suffers from a lack of exploration as well. Obviously a tactical RPG is going to be linear as hell but I could have enjoyed visiting a town or having more freedom on the world map like Vandal Hearts.

Playability Final Score: 18/20

Story: The story itself isn't so much it's strong point as the characters. I loved the characters individually because they all had such distinct personalities. Two of the party in particular, Martin and Rupp are wonderfully done. They both speak in an authentic medieval accent and hit on the ladies. It's executed much better then I describe it. As a matter of fact it is executed so well that they are guranteed so surpass any feelings you have for the cliche'd hero, Nash.

Story Final Score: 19/20

Music: The soundtrack was not one widely used. The music was good but drug out over time. Eventually I just became tired of it. Eventually I just turned my volume down because the battle theme get's old FAST.

Music Final Score: 10/20

Finishing The Job: In the end a fantastic CBS and a not so fantastic CMS that accompanies it round this game out to not as high a grade as it deserves. The dialog and characters are memorable and great. All in all this is a package I would pick up just so you can see it all executed. It's quite professional.

Finishing The Job Final Score: 18/20

FINAL SCORE: 80/100 = B

Grading Scale

100%-90% = A - Wow you truly are god. Let me kiss your feet plz.

89%-70% = B - You've got Kinks to work out but it's still a very good game worth the time.

69%-50% = C - Meh it's not bad but it's not great. You've still got a lot of work to do.

49%-30% = D - Wow this really is crap. This is so bad I've put an ancient death curse on you.

39% and below = F - This score shouldn't even be possible. Your game has to be the worst piece of crap to ever grace this earth. I feel sorry for you and if you ever have offspring let me assure you they will be disgraced to know you once made a game this crappy.

Please keep in mind these are all MY opinions. You might love this game so there's no harm in trying it out.
